Location
Kenilworth Park is situated in the quiet suburb adjacent to the M5 freeway and borders the Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area.
KPNW establishment
The Neighbourhood watch was first formed in May 2023 after several community members found it fit to establish a Watch to encourage and promote a safer neighbourhood. KPNW has been formally accredited and registered with the Department of Community Safety as of October 2023.
KPNW currently consists of 21 active members, inclusive of the Executive team. The Founder Chairperson currently is Suzanne Japhta along with the Founder Vice-chairperson and Operations Manager, Bryon Nicholas. They are supported by the Secretary Rose van Coppenhagen and the Treasurer Barbara Smith.
Patrols
KPNW is a voluntary and selfless service of which patrollers offer up their time. Patrol times vary during the day with constant vigilance offered by those who are able to, starting from early mornings to late evenings. Patrollers stagger their patrol times to cover as much time as is possible.
Aim
The KPNW’s goal is to create awareness as much as possible and deter criminal elements from scouting in the neighbourhood. In this way, creating a safer neighbourhood for community members to enjoy the beautiful surroundings we are situated in.
Operations
From time to time, KPNW will have awareness drives and be part of operations in the great Sector Area along with Wynberg SAPS, other neighbouring NW’s and Armed Response companies from the area.
Social commitment
A social committee has been created to assist with encouraging and engaging the community in events taking place in our neighbourhood. This committee is headed by Melissa Olivier and supported by several residents with a strong sense of community. Ideas for community events can be directed to Melissa on the email on our contact us tab.
